Quilting

Two days ago I went over to my Grandma's house and we made a quilt! It is the first quilt I have made. It was so much fun!!!~~~~ We made it in 5 hours....I know that sounds like a ton of time but actually it went by REALLY quick. It is a lap quilt. Not a full length quilt, so it was supposed to be easier. :)

Bath Bag

.............................................Today I made this bath bag. It really works! I messed up a little on the top half. ( see the lump) But besides that, it's perfect! ( Considering I just learned how to crochet. ) To make this:

1. Chain 29 and then make a double crochet in the fourth stich and in every stich till the end of the row.

2. Circle your work around so that the beginning of the row is next to the end. ( I wish I had a picture to show u. )

3. Do a slip stich into the space.

4. Chain 3.

5. skip a stich and do a half double crochet.

6. Chain 1.

***7. Now do this: >Skip a stich >Make a half double crochet in the next stich > Chain 1.***

This is an important part.

8. do this all the way around the loop.

9. OK. Good. Now do this: > Make a half double crochet in the next big space. > chain 1.

This is the MOST important part of the whole bag!

10. Do this until your bag is 1 inch longer than your bar of soap.

11. You probably know how to finish off......

12. Close up the Bottom of the bag by making a slip stich all the way across.

13. Separately make a 12 inch chain.

14. Now weave it in and out of the bag so it is a draw-string.

Crochet

I have Officially learned how to crochet! :) Yay!!!!

I have already made SO many things. A flower, a jewelry roll, a hand-held purse, and squares. ( if you make 12 of them you can make a scarf! ) I have made all of this in 2 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pillows!

I went to my Grandma's house last week and we made these really cute pillows for my room. I re-did my room around Christmas and painted it teal... Actually it is officially called "Basil Sea" It's really pretty! Anyways, I made about 4 pillows in 2 different patterns. I made a big check for my white wicker chase, a long check pillow for my bed, and a small teal one also for my bed. The fourth one I mentioned I am still working on. :)

Bracelets...

Today I taught Ava how to crochet. As we went along, we ended up making this cool bracelet! I don't really know what the terms are, so I sort of made them up. :)

3.- Keep chaining until it fits your wrist. Tie off and your done!

2.-Make a circle until it is a little bit bigger than a quarter. Tie it off, and make sure you leave about a foot of yarn at the end.After you tie off, cast back on and chain again!

1.-Chain for about half of the size of your wrist.

Crochet

My Cherries!!!!





I am so happy! I learned how to crochet. Actually, all I know how to do is make little circles and triangles. I am going to end up having to get a "how to crochet" book.

Imade my own pattern. Actually, I really just started shaping things and tying on parts to create this little guy. Not the best but decent. I can't wait to make more! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Roses are Red...

Yesterday I made this really, cool hair/chain thing! I used the ends of pine needles to "pin" them together. It looked really good. It was pretty strong too! After I wore it for only 2 minutes, I took it off and put it on a dead tree to blow in the wind... The next day it was gone. Oh well, it was pretty while it lasted! :)

O.K- here is the final product! I had alot of fun making these.I even made myself a head band to match! Ava helped make one for her doll. She is so proud of herself...

P.S-I don't know what's wrong with my writing and the size of the pictures? Anyone know how to get it off???? I sort of like it, but just in case I start NOT to like it...I want to be able to change it back. :)

Yarn "Cuff" Bracelet!

Finished product.

Pull out the straws.

Weave yarn under, over, under, over the straws.

2 straws, weave yarn through them, tie them in a knot at the end, then tape the straws together.

This is what you need: -2 straws (or 4, if you want to make it real thick)

-tape

-yarn

-scissors

How to make this. Super fun and super easy! Cut 2 pieces of yarn about 18" each. String the yarn through the straws. Tape the straws together at the end (about 1"). Then at that same end, tie the yarn in a knot (close to the straws). Then take your ball of yarn and start weaving around the straws under, over, under, over. The straws are sorta like a loom. Weave under, over around the straws until it is the length you want. When it is the length you want, tie a knot around one of the straws to help secure it. Then you carefully pull the straws out! Make sure you do not weave too tightly around the straws or you will never get them out. After you pull the straws out, tie the loose ends together in a knot as close as you can to the weave. Then you are done!!!! Chances are your second bracelet will look better than your first :) I have made a 4 straw cuff and a 2 straw choker. It is a fun craft to create.

A couple weeks ago we all made bird houses. Only Ava and I used glitter, the boys thought it was too girlish :) Right now they are hanging on our big tree out front. I like them because they are so tiny! No birds actually come to them...probably because there are no seeds in them! But if they did, they would have some fancy houses.

Knitting-A-lot

I have been knitting alot these past few weeks. My donkey doesn't really look like a donkey but he's cute! I didn't know how to make hand gloves so I made up my own "pattern." I made my donkey a little scarf. He doesn't have eyes and I don't know what to name him...any suggestions? The next thing I want to knit is a zebra...or maybe an elephant. I don't know! I bet you are wondering how I made the donkey. I got this book on how to make knitted animals. I love it. It isn't as confusing as some knitting instructions... you know...Pr-3-over onto Kn-4, then K the R side of F onto 8. CONFUSING!!!! Anyways, this guy was easier to make. Have fun over Christmas break everyone!

Sewing / Shrinky Dinks

Some more of my creations... I don't sew alot but maybe it is because I don't know how to. I tried to sew a lip gloss holder. Some people might not like it but I am very proud of it.I think this is the first thing I have ever sewn! And yes, I did take the pictures on my bathroom rug. As for the shrinky dinks... they are so much fun to make. But maybe it's just me. I like little, detail work...

I go through fazes. I like to make certain things at certain times. This month I have been making alot of shrinky dink jewelry. My Uncle got me this kit ( from Klutz) that I LOVE! I love Klutz anyways... they have the best "How to do" books.

Ok, I am going to move onto a different subject now. Since I don't post any pics of me running......I will just tell you that I had a meet this Thursday. And I will also tell you that I twisted my ankle on Thursday AFTER the run. I have never hurt myself before so I don't know what to think. It does hurt, and I have a run this Friday! I keep icing it... Hopefully it will be better soon:)

My Fetish...

My Mom always says... Fetish . No, not the cheese you eat. Fetish..something you do all the time. My fetish is my NAILS! I do my nails at least 2 times a week. Sometimes I do them just so they match my outfit. In the pic up top they are candy corn. That was 4 days ago. I already have them redone. Black with white ghosts and spiderwebs. The other pic...the chicken mcnugget w/ the pumpkin costume on...I just had to post him. My Mom has had him for years. He is so cute, speaking about years... Mommy's B-day is ON Halloween!!!! Yay Yay!!!!! We will be having A LOT of sweets and cake this month. First my Mom's b-day, then Charlies (the next day) then Daddy's- Nov. 7, then Coopers-Nov. 22.Not to mention my Grandmas!!!!! I know it's crazy and confusing. The only person in my family whose b-day is not in October or November is Ava... hers is July 9. She likes being in July. She says it is because she can have a POOL PARTY!
